AirPods Pro 2 rumors: USB-C, Find My support, and more

Rumored AirPods 2

New details of the rumored AirPods Pro have been revealed online.

It’s thought that a second generation will be released this year, with Apple introducing new features and functionality to encourage consumers to upgrade. A report from 52Audio suggests that Apple will make some significant changes this year, but in perhaps surprising news, there will be no major design changes.

Their renders show that there will be no physical changes to the AirPods Pro, though that doesn’t mean there’s no reason to upgrade. indeed, Apple will adopt USB-C charging for the first time, moving the case over from Lighting to USB-C for better compatibility. The case will, of course, continue to offer wireless charging, so the chances are you’ll never charge them with a cable anyway.

Apple is expected to add a new H1 chip to the AirPods Pro to offer improved noise cancelling, and the new hardware should mean lower power consumption, offering better performance and battery life.

Apple is reportedly considering adding a heart rate detection feature to the AirPods Pro 2, detecting the heart rate from within the ear and sending the data straight to the Health app.

Finally, Apple will add some new features to the AirPods Pro 2 to make them better suited to the Find My network. Apple will add a new speaker to the case to help users find them at home.
