Alleged iPad Air 3 Drawing Reaffirms Rumors About Features

Another drawing of the supposed iPad Air 3 has come to light – and it strengthens evidence that a four-speaker system, rear camera flash and Smart Connector will all appear in the upcoming tablet.

Previous leaks had already hinted at the four speakers and camera flash. However, this new drawing, pictured above and provided to Engadget by an unnamed “reliable source”, includes further evidence that the iPad Air 3 will, as suggested by case images yesterday, come with a Smart Connector enabling it to use accessories with the Smart tag.

The familiar design of a Smart Connector, which already features in the iPad Pro, can be clearly seen along one of the tablet’s edges in this new drawing. This strongly suggests that Apple could be planning a new Smart Keyboard, re-sized for suitable use with a 9.7-inch tablet, alongside the iPad Air 3.

On the subject of size, the listed dimensions accompanying this drawing suggest that the iPad Air 3 will be 0.05mm thicker and 0.1mm wider than the iPad Air 2. This is a very small change in sizing – though, perhaps seeking to accommodate the Smart Connector, Apple could still introduce new cases especially for the new device. Let’s wait and see…
