Apple has launched a repair program for the iPhone 11, following reports that some users have suffered issues with the display on their smartphone, failing to respond to their touch.
A year after the device went on sale, Apple has confirmed that a small number of iPhone 11 models have been affected by the problem.
Only those sold between November 2019 and May 2020 are affected by the problem, and it is the result of a display module malfunction.
The company says that the display module must be replaced for the phone to work again.
Apple has confirmed that only the iPhone 11 is affected by the issue and that those with an iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max should not face any problems with their devices.
In a press release, the company said: “Apple has determined that a small percentage of iPhone 11 displays may stop responding to touch due to an issue with the display module. Affected devices were manufactured between November 2019 and May 2020.”
If you want to know whether your device is affected, visit the Apple Support website, where you will be able to enter your serial number. If your phone is affected and you’re eligible for the scheme, you’ll be able to take your phone to an Apple Store and have it replaced for free.
Please note that the program only covers iPhone 11 devices for two years after the first retail sale, so you’ll need to see whether you’re eligible and receive a replacement before November 2021. Note that Apple will not automatically give out a new iPhone 11 and that your phone will be inspected for physical damage first.
