Apple to add hole punch to iPhone 14 for camera and Face ID

A new report has found that Apple will replace the iPhone notch with a new hole-punch design next year.

However, a new piece of information suggests that the hole-punch will only be for the iPhone Pro models, with the more affordable iPhone 14 model sporting the same notch as this year’s design.

We’ve known for a couple of years now that Apple has wanted to replace the current notch with a new hole punch design, and Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that it would come as part of the 2022 update.

A new report from The Elec now suggests that the successors to the iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max will come with a hole-punch design, whilst the iPhone 13 successor will keep the notch to save money and encourage more consumers to upgrsde to the Pro and Pro Max variants. It’s also thought that Apple will add a new fourth model, replacing the iPhone 14 mini with a new larger iPhone 14 Plus – offering more screen real estate without the Pro Max price tag for consumers who want a bigger screen.

Looking further into the future, Apple wants to embed Face ID under the display and should be able to do so by its 2023 iPhone model update.
