Apple Unveils Safari Technology Preview 171 Featuring Performance Enhancements

Safari Browser

Apple has rolled out a fresh update for Safari Technology Preview, the exploratory browser that the company first unveiled in March 2016. Safari Technology Preview was developed by Apple to evaluate features that could potentially be implemented in future Safari release versions.

The release of Safari Technology Preview 171 comes with remedies for bugs and improvements in performance for several areas including Web Inspector, CSS, CSS Counter Styles, Web Animations, Rendering, JavaScript, Popover, Web API, Media, Accessibility, and SVG.

The latest version of Safari Technology Preview is 16.4, compatible with macOS Ventura and macOS Monterey 12.3 or later.

Those who have downloaded the browser can access the Safari Technology Preview update via the Software Update mechanism located in System Preferences or System Settings. Detailed release notes concerning the update can be found on the Safari Technology Preview website.

Apple’s goal with Safari Technology Preview is to garner feedback from developers and users about its browser development process.

Safari Technology Preview can operate simultaneously with the standard Safari browser, and while it is tailored for developers, it is not necessary to have a developer account to download it.
