Apple Watch Becomes ‘tinyPod’ with New Product Apple’s iPhone, arguably its most successful product to date, almost looked a lot more like an iPod. The iPod's massive success led Apple to toy with the idea of an iPod-like iPhone before they settled on the design we know today. Fast forward 17 years from the iPhone's debut, and the concept of an iPod-inspired phone hasn't vanished entirely. Enter the tinyPod.

Back in May, a teaser video for the tinyPod surfaced on X, sparking curiosity and excitement. Initially, the name “tinyPod” suggested a music-centric device. However, the video revealed a much more versatile gadget. The tinyPod is essentially an enclosure for a strapless Apple Watch, transforming it into a miniature phone with a nostalgic twist. Instead of navigating with the Digital Crown, users will interact with an iPod-like click wheel.

Is It Brilliant or Bizarre?

The tinyPod’s tagline, “your phone away from phone,” captures its unique appeal. This product aims to offer the essential functionalities of a phone while mitigating the distractions that often come with modern smartphones. It’s an intriguing proposition for those battling phone addiction.

Since the tinyPod uses an Apple Watch, it remains integrated into the Apple ecosystem, maintaining access to essential apps. However, its limited interface makes it less tempting to dive into endless social media scrolling or YouTube binges, as these apps are either unavailable or cumbersome on watchOS.

One top comment from Aviel Gross reads, “I never insta-bought something so fast since the ‘this is fine’ Lego set,” highlighting the immediate appeal and potential market demand for such a device.

The tinyPod is available for order today, starting at $79.99. For those who prefer simplicity, a ‘lite’ version without the click wheel is offered at $29.99. Orders are expected to ship later this summer.

The tinyPod presents a charming and practical solution for those looking to reduce their screen time without completely disconnecting from the digital world. Its blend of nostalgia and innovation could very well make it a hit among Apple enthusiasts and minimalists alike.
