The availability of the iPhone 13 range is expected to improve in the coming weeks as we edge closer to the holiday season. That’s according to a report from DigiTimes.
In recent months, Apple – like many other technology brands – has suffered from supply chain issues due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as well as shipping delays and chip shortages. It had been thought that availability of the new iPhone would prove tight over the holiday season, and that some consumers may miss out on getting a new phone.
In some locations, users were told they’d have to wait several weeks – sometimes even months – for their preferred iPhone 13 configuration to arrive. However, Apple has been doubling down on production of the new device, even stopping work on iPad production, to ensure that it has enough supply for the lucrative holiday season, where millions of extra iPhones are sold as consumers look for Christmas presents and treat themselves.
Earlier in the year, Apple said that it expected the chip shortage and complications that impacted production had cost the business more than $6 billion. The company’s CEO said that investors should expect that figure to climb as we head towards the holidays.
In recent months, a wide range of product categories have been significant updates. From the iPhone 13 and iPad Pro with M1 chip to the new iMac and the MacBook Pro range with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, as well as AirPods 3, Apple has a lot to offer consumers.
To accommodate a particularly busy holiday season, Apple has confirmed that it will extend its returns policy to January 8, 2022 on products bought before December 25.
