Expected iPhone 7 Launch Event Announced for September 7

Apple has revealed that its next big press event will take place on Wednesday, September 7 from 10am Pacific Time at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Long-circulating rumor suggests that the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and second generation Apple Watch will all be unveiled on the day.

According to The Verge, Apple sent out event invites this morning – and the invite graphic is teasing and cryptic in the usual Apple way, reading: “See you on the 7th.” The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are widely expected to lose the dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack and get a flush, touch-sensitive Home button. Meanwhile, the iPhone 7 Plus should feature a dual-lens camera – a first for any iPhone.

The second generation Apple Watch should also be announced – with GPS, swimming tracking and a more waterproof design all rumored or suggested to feature. There’s also an outside chance of Apple announcing a hugely revamped MacBook Pro at the event. The notebook is expected to arrive in the fourth quarter, though Bloomberg has scotched the likelihood of a formal reveal on September 7.

We should also learn about the release dates for iOS 10, macOS Sierra, watchOS 3 and tvOS 10 – all of which were previously announced and previewed at Apple’s WWDC keynote in June. The September 7 event will be live streamed on Apple’s website – we are certainly looking forward to it.
