Image of Purported iPhone 7 Camera Modules Leaked Online

While there is good reason to believe that the large iPhone 7 Plus will feature a dual-lens camera, it looks like different enhancements could be in store for the smaller iPhone 7’s camera. Reliable tech leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer has just posted a new photo of what could be modules for that camera.

Hemmerstoffer, the editor-in-chief of tech news site NowhereElse.fr, says that the pictured modules are only “purported” to be for the 4.7-inch handset. However, they do seem to show a slightly larger lens in comparison to that of its predecessor, the iPhone 6S. This is in line with previously leaked photos suggesting that the iPhone 7’s enclosure will sport a slightly bigger cutout for the back camera.

Apple may have chosen a larger lens in order to improve the phone’s camera sensor. It has already been predicted that optical image stabilization – a technology which helps to prevent blurriness in captured photos, but is currently limited to 5.5-inch iPhones – will make its way to the iPhone 7.

As the expected formal unveil of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is now only about two months away, we shouldn’t have to wait much longer for confirmation of camera improvements in both models.
