iOS 17.1 Boosts Keyboard Responsiveness & Addresses iPhone Image Retention Issue

iOS Keyboard

Apple has rolled out iOS 17.1 RC to developers and beta testers, offering new functionalities like AirDrop via the Internet and expanded choices for Apple Music aficionados. However, a critical highlight of this update is its emphasis on rectifying two major concerns that users have reported since the release of iOS 17.

Several users, especially those with older iPhone versions, highlighted a lag in the keyboard responsiveness post the iOS 17 update. This concern wasn’t limited to older models alone. Even the latest iPhone 15 Pro users encountered challenges when composing extensive text messages. In its release notes for iOS 17.1, Apple acknowledges the issue, stating, “Fixes an issue that may cause the keyboard to be less responsive,” thereby assuring users of a smoother typing experience.

Another significant concern addressed in this update pertains to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Numerous reports surfaced on platforms like Reddit and Apple’s own official discussions forums, citing issues of burn-in and image retention. Notably, these concerns arose merely a month after the models’ launch.

Apple’s response was prompt, acknowledging the “display image persistence” issue on iPhones and confirming its resolution with the iOS 17.1 update.
