Apple is enjoying a stellar start to the year as a result of the impressive iPhone 12 demand.
The company has been ramping up production on its latest flagship device, and this year’s iPhone 13 could launch in October, according to a sales report from analysts at Wedbush.
The popularity of the iPhone 12 has been unprecedented and has driven sales throughout the season, despite the fact Apple delayed the launch by a month due to production issues.
By now, Apple would typically cut production orders on its new smartphone as demand falls post-Christmas, but this year, Apple continues to ramp up production to meet growing demand. According to Wedbush, Apple’s supply chain has remained unchanged for months.
Apple is building between 56 million and 62 million iPhone units in the March quarter, and figures for the June quarter are “unchanged,” expected to come in at around 40 million.
According to Daniel Ives and Strecker Backe, the only iPhone trajectory with similar sales as the iPhone 12 was the iPhone 6, which launched back in 2014 to much fanfare.
It’s now expected that Apple will sell 220 million iPhone units in 2021, though Wedbush added that the company could even reach 250 million units with the right sales strategy.
