Apple has revealed its battery life estimations for the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini, and amongst the revelations, it seems the iPhone 12 mini offers impressive performance.
The new iPhone 12 mini is Apple’s smallest device in several years, and though its battery life might not be as impressive as the iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro Max, it does stand up as a competent device for everyday browsing and consuming content.
The mini offers around 10 hours of streaming video playback, of 15 hours of playback from downloaded content.
The iPhone 12, on the other hand, offers 17 hours and 11 hours respectively. This means the iPhone 12 mini can outperform the new iPhone SE, but it doesn’t compete with the new larger iPhones – or indeed older iPhones released by Apple in recent years.
By comparison, the iPhone SE offers 8 hours of streamed video playback and 40 hours of audio playback, compared to the 12 mini’s 10 hours and 50 hours. But the iPhone 12 Pro offers up to 11 hours of streamed video playback and 65 hours of audio playback.
The top-of-the-range iPhone 12 Pro Max can offer up to 20 hours of video playback, 12 hours of streamed video playback, and up to 80 hours of audio playback, but it’s important to note that Apple’s estimations are always generous and actual performance varies depending on usage.
Apple’s new iPhone 12 devices all support fast charging, and using its new 20W power adapter, can be charged to 50% in as little as 30 minutes.
Apple’s new MagSafe wireless charger can also be used to increase battery charging speed, though we don’t know the specifics on this just yet. We’ll bring you the latest on everything as soon as we get it.
