Apple is likely to introduce an always-on display for its new iPhone 14 range, according to reports.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has suggested that the iPhone 14 Pro and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max models will feature an always-on display option for the Lock Screen, using similar technology to what was used on the Apple Watch.

Speaking of the changes expected to come with iOS 16, Gurman said that the company was working on an improved lock screen experience with new widget-like capabilities and the introduction of an always-on mode.

Apple was expected to introduce an always-on option for its iPhone 13 Pro models, but it was scrapped, perhaps due to issues with the hardware or compatibility with software. Now, the company is expected to launch the feature this year, offering users the chance to glance at information like the time and notification alerts.

Last year, Apple introduced 120Hz ProMotion displays on the iPhone 13 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 13 Pro‌ Max, which allow variable refresh rates, and will support always-on displays. It’s thought that the new iPhone 14 Pro and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max will also support ProMotion, which could drop to the same low of 1Hz.
