iPhone 5 Announce Like Peaked-at Presents on Christmas

I feel like a kid who wakes up Christmas morning and runs out to see what my presents are, only to remember peaking when I just couldn't wait any longer. That's what today's iPhone 5/iOS 6 announcement felt like. We already knew all of that thanks to rumors. We didn't even find out what the name of the phone would be, since Apple themselves leaked it earlier in the day.

As long-rumored, the iPhone 5 is thinner and lighter, and also longer, giving way to a 4″ display. The headphone jack has been moved to the bottom, and the 30-pin connector has been swapped with a 9-pin. Whoopee. I knew all that.

As for iOS 6, Apple themselves told us mostly all there was to know at the WWDC last June. We already knew about improved Siri, Passbook, Facebook integration, email improvements, Safari improvements, etc. There was no new excitement. No oohs and ahhs. I'd already seen all this. Yawn.

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter that much. I'll still be there on Friday pre-ordering my own iPhone 5, and so will many others. The early rumors that turned out to be true are not going to stop any of the hype and probably only increased it. It just isn't the same excitement level as some Apple keynotes in the past.

Watch the keynote yourself to see if you can find the same excitement level.
