The National Football League has launched a YouTube channel in the run-up to the Super Bowl. Fans of particular teams will now see the channel appearing on their screens when they search for them. Super Bowl XLIX is due to take place this weekend, with the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks taking part. The channel is part of a deal the NFL has struck with Google.
YouTube sports partnerships manager said: “On any screen you watch YouTube, NFL’s YouTube channel will bring you the sights and sounds this week in Arizona, from pre-game analysis to the highlights that everyone will be talking about.”
The NFL will post videos after the Super Bowl and will continue to offer content including highlights and interviews before the league returns. The channel was officially announced in December. It has taken several years for the NFL to finally partner with YouTube, with sporting bodies including MLB NHL and the NBA first striking deals with the video streaming giant during the mid-2000s.
