The MCU’s WandaVision series was an enormous hit that not only influenced the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it also became one of the best TV shows of the year. Although we adored Elizabeth Olsen’s majestic performance, one additional character from the series was an unexpected scene-stealer, and that is Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn. Agatha Harkness is absolutely beloved by the fans of the series and it seems that the popularity has paid off, as Variety reports that Agatha Harkness is getting her own, solo series on Disney+.
Not much is know about the WandaVision spin-off, but it seems that the original show’s head writer, Jac Schaeffer, will be working on the show as part of his multi-project deal with Marvel. This shouldn’t really come off as a surprise, seeing how Marvel’s head, Kevin Feige, spoke about Hahn back in January 2021:
“It was one of those miraculous things that happened,” Marvel Studios President/Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige recalled in January about how Hahn joined WandaVision. “Maybe it was over the course of months. In my memory, it all happened very quickly. It was a rare general meeting, which we don’t usually have a lot of time to do, but Kathryn came in and sat down with Luis D’Esposito. She was a fan of what we were up to and we’re fans of hers. At exactly that same time, we were sitting in that writer’s room trying to think of who to play Agnes. It probably took five seconds for somebody to say, ‘Wait, what about Kathryn? She was in yesterday.'”
Hahn’s performance was a truly great aspect of the show, especially since she started off as the seemingly benevolent and friendly Agnes, only for her to be outed as the evil witch Agatha Harkness, which was a major plot element of the show itself. Now, it seems that the fan-favorite character is going to be explored further and although we don’t know much about the planned spin-off, we’re certainly looking forward to it.
