Apple intends to officially reveal new Macs, very likely including a significantly revamped MacBook Pro, at an event scheduled for October 27, sources have reportedly confirmed to Recode.
Rumor has long circulated that Apple would introduce new Macs before we say goodbye to 2016. Recode adds that the Mac event is expected to be held “at or near” Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino rather than, as was the case with the iPhone 7 launch, San Francisco.
The event seems likely to be headlined by new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro models each sporting a Touch ID sensor, which could be used for unlocking the machines and authorizing Apple Pay payments, and touchscreen bar capable of showing different keys for different apps.
We can also realistically expect a MacBook Air refresh – though, if a Macotakara report from earlier today holds true, only for the 13-inch line. The iMac, Mac Pro and Mac Mini lines could also get updates, though these have not been as heavily rumored as the MacBook Pro and Air updates.
In any case, Apple should send out press invites to the Mac event at some point this week – possibly even as soon as tomorrow. We certainly fancy a big Mac (event)…
