If you consider yourself a true Mac fan, then there’s no doubt that the wallpapers from the macOS’s of years gone by will fill you with nostalgia and happy memories.
Indeed, one of the best things about any new Mac release is the new wallpapers, with each of the annual updates coming with a stunning new background adorned on the desktop.
However, in recent years, some of the Mac’s most iconic designs and backgrounds have been removed from the operating system as the screen resolution of iMacs and MacBooks improved. This means that some of our favorite backgrounds, like the wallpapers released for Mac OS X Cheetah and Max OS X Leopard, are no longer compatible with our devices.
Fear not, however, as Stephen Hackett of 512 Pixels has put together every macOS wallpaper since Cheetah, working with designers to upscale older wallpapers to a 5K resolution, making them look crisp and clean even on the latest high-resolution MacBooks and iMacs.
Stephen’s collection includes the ‘aqua’ wallpaper from Mac OS X 10.0, right through to the latest macOS 10.13 wallpaper for High Sierra.
Why not download them all and experiment with which looks best on your machine – or even set them up on a loop to enter a new macOS era every time you open your MacBook?
