YouTube has revealed details about the TV show and three feature-length movies that will form the first batch of exclusive content for its subscription video service, YouTube Red.
The TV show is gamer Felix Kjellberg’s Scare PewDiePie, while the three films are vlogger and comedian Lilly Singh’s A Trip to Unicorn Island, production studio Rooster Teeth’s superhero adventure Lazer Team, and the musical Dance Camp, in which various YouTubers will feature.
All of this content will debut in the US, currently the sole country in which YouTube Red is available, on February 10. However, this content will also be available to buy from YouTube or the Google Play store, and also rent from the latter, elsewhere in the world.
YouTube Red is available for a monthly charge of $9.99; other than the YouTube Red Originals, its features include the ability to download videos for offline viewing and the removal of advertising. Google has revealed that it is working to bring YouTube Red to locations beyond the US – and there is evidence that the United Kingdom and Ireland could be the next territories to get the service.
