Siri Search Abilities to be Expanded with Apple TV Update

The upcoming tvOS 9.2 for the fourth generation Apple TV is set to enable Siri to both take dictation and search the App Store, easing perusal of the huge choice of content available through the set-top box.

This discovery was made after Apple sent developers the third beta of tvOS 9.2 today. MacRumors observes that new features in this beta include Dictation; this can be switched on or off, but allows users to dictate, rather than type, text for the tvOS search bar.

Siri can now also be used to search for App Store apps. A user should be able to, for example, ask Siri to “show me the Crossy Road app” or “show me the highest grossing shopping apps”.

Both of these new search functions should, bar unexpected issues during beta testing, appear in tvOS 9.2 on its public release, which will likely be within the next few weeks. It seems unlikely, however, that these additions will be available in territories where Siri is currently omitted from the latest Apple TV.
