iPhone

A new chart has revealed how popular default applications are on Android and iOS.

Although we all know that apps like YouTube and Facebook are used by millions of users around the world, it’s interesting to see how much time consumers are spending using default apps like Apple Phone and Weather.

Apple Photos, for example, which comes preinstalled on every iPhone and stores users’ phones from the Camera app, has an eye-watering 89.5 million monthly active users in the United States, whilst Apple Clock has 79.9 million users. Over on Android, Google Play has 87 million monthly active users, whilst Google Maps has 66.7 million monthly active users in the United States – all default apps preinstalled when phones are sold.

On iOS, YouTube is by far the most popular third-party app in terms of monthly active users, with 72.8 million users, whilst Facebook comes in second place with 66.8 million. Amazon is in third place with 49.4 million users, and Instagram and Gmail round out the top five with 45.9 million and 43.7 million users respectively.

On Android, apps like Facebook Messenger (67.8 million), Amazon (45.1 million) and Samsung Calculator (38.5 million) are some of the most popular third-party applications.
