Experienced and reliable tech leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer has unearthed blueprints for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. And, it turns out, a lot of the circulating rumors could be correct…
The blueprints, sourced by Hemmerstoffer on behalf of uSwitch, suggest that the familiar 3.5mm headphone jack will indeed be absent in both models – though it looks like Apple won’t make use of the freed-up space to put in double speakers.
These renders, depicting the iPhone 7 above and larger iPhone 7 Plus below, reportedly came to uSwitch through the Apple subcontractor Catcher Technology. The two models differ, however, in the sizes of their rear camera cutouts. The larger model’s bigger cut-out suggests that it will, as previously predicted, feature a dual-lens camera, while the iPhone 7 will remain with a single-lens shooter.
Even more eye-opening is the visible presence of a Smart Connector on the back of the iPhone 7 Plus. This also previously rumored feature will seemingly be omitted from the smaller iPhone 7.
uSwitch reports its source assuring that, as evidenced elsewhere, the antenna lines crossing the handset’s back will be gone. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will apparently, as hinted just days ago, match the dimensions of, respectively, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. However, as these new images are reportedly taken from Apple’s January testing stage, it remains possible that the final products will be markedly different.
