Twitter announces new ‘Threads’ feature to post multiple tweets

Social network Twitter has announced plans to launch a new feature.

Threads will launch on iOS, Android and the Twitter website in the coming weeks, and give users the opportunity to link multiple tweets together to make them easier to read.

Some users of the social networking giant share multiple tweets simultaneously to tell a story, and label with numbers in a process known as a “tweetstorm”. The new feature is designed to make it easier for users to streamline the concept and follow narratives.

When users post a tweet on the social networking app, they’ll be able to click the plus button and add multiple tweets to the original post. All posts can then be drafted ahead of them going live, and published together with the new ‘Tweet All’ option on the application.

Threads is the latest attempt from the social network to increase user engagement and build its audience, having previously rolled out a new design earlier in the year and increasing the character limit of tweets from 140 to 280 last month.
