Best Buy is set to become the first national retailer other than Apple to offer the Apple Watch in stores. The company has announced that, from 7 August, the wearable will be available both online and in over 100 of its stores, before another 200 of its stores get it in time for Christmas.
Jason Bonfig, Best Buy’s senior category officer, has dubbed the Apple Watch “an important addition to an emerging product category, and we know our customers want it”. The company’s customers will have a choice of 16 models, including Sport and Watch models, plus almost 50 accessories for the wearable, among them watch bands, stands, chargers and screen shields.
Best Buy, which calls the Apple Watch “one of the year’s most talked about and innovative products” in its press release published by 9to5Mac, has added that details of exactly which of its stores will be stocking it will appear on the company’s website within “the coming days”.
