New MacBook Air to be unveiled in Q3 2022

Apple will reportedly launch a new M2-powered MacBook Air in 2022.

The company has been working on transitioning its entire Mac lineup over to the M1 chip, and alongside this, the firm is redesigning and remodelling its entire lineup in the process. We’ve already seen the stunning new 24-inch iMac, and we’re expecting to see a new-look MacBook Pro before the end of the year. It now seems that the MacBook Air is next to be given an overhaul, but it won’t be coming for the next nine to twelve months.

Apple gave the MacBook Air a refresh almost a year ago, adding the M1 chip back in 2020, but now it seems the company wants to bring the MacBook in line with the rest of the new-look Mac range. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will introduce a MacBook Air with upgraded Apple Silicon, likely M2 or M1X, in the third quarter of 2022.

Kuo had previously suggested Apple would bring the new MacBook Air out in mid-2022, so it seems there’s been something of a delay. The new-look device will not only come with next-generation internals, but a chassis redesign with color options, smaller bezels, and perhaps even the reintroduction of MagSafe charging.

It’s widely expected that the next Mac to be given an overhaul is the MacBook Pro range, and we’re expecting an announcement of an event to showcase the new models in the coming weeks.
