DC FanDome was finally held on October 16, 2021, and DC’s long-awaited showcase of its future projects was all that we had expected and much more. We got some exclusive looks into the future of DC’s television, cinematic and video game projects, with some new footage and information. The biggest event, of course, was related to Matt Reeves’ upcomingย The Batman movie, which is set to premiere next year and whose new trailer was the highlight of the whole event and we have it here for you:
The trailer was the last element of the DC FanDome event, with the cast and crew of the movie also joining in the trailer’s presentation. Reeves talked about different aspects of the movie, with Gotham City being one of them. “It’s just as important as any of the Rogues Gallery,” Matt Reeves, the movie’s writer and director said during the event. “It’s sort of like the nature of what this place is, and the history of it is critically important to our story and one of the things that I really wanted to do because it is the center of the story – especially the history of corruption in the city. [That] was I wanted to present it in a way that was really fleshed out, I wanted it to feel like an American city you’d never been to. I mean other iterations… the Burton one had very, very, theatrical, beautiful sets – and Nolan had the version that he created in Batman Begins and that was… parts of Chicago and parts of Pittsburgh. And what we’re trying to do is create a version of it that you haven’t seen before.”
Reeves’ย The Batman will feature Robert Pattinson as the titular character. Pattinson is going to be joined by Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Zoรซ Kravitz as Catwoman, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Real, Barry Keoghan as Officer Stanley Merkel, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
The Batman is currently set for an exclusive theatrical release on March 4, 2022.
